3. Treat canker sores

Even though they are small, canker sores hurt a lot! Simply put, these are tiny circular ulcers that develop inside the mouth rather than on the lips. They do not spread and often appear after a period of excessive intake of fatty foods. Canker sores typically go away on their own, but the discomfort they cause while they do so can be severe. Use the baking soda mouthwash we discussed in #2—12 teaspoons of baking soda diluted in 1/2 cup of water—every day if you have a canker sore. According to research, this can significantly reduce pain and speed up healing.
